ERIKA WEITZ is a multidisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles working across wet plate collodion photography, assemblage sculpture, documentary photography, painting, and installation.

She has pioneered a process that exposes AI-generated data to 19th century darkroom chemistry, producing objects in silver on black metal that exist outside the established history of either medium. Her sculptural work assembles charred wood, religious statuary, volcanic rock, and salvaged industrial materials into forms that move between the primordial and the prophetic. Her documentary photography captures the pressure points of contemporary life, from political uprising to subculture.

Across every medium, Weitz works inside pressure using tension as a tool. She forces polarities into the same frame, ancient and emergent, sacred and synthetic, order and chaos, then applies fire, chemistry, and time. Her work is a pressure test that asks what is lost, what is gained, and what survives.

Weitz holds a BFA from Xavier University, Cincinnati. She has exhibited at Art Basel Miami Beach, Unit London, and Paris Photo, and in solo exhibitions across Los Angeles. Her work has been featured in Artforum, Architectural Digest, Hyperallergic, and Artillery.
